I’m trying to learn this tune, and I recorded this video inside my vintage 1966 avion travel trailer. I’m working on the “fancier” bowing version (which shows up in the last part of the video) but for now that’s as far as I can get with this tune. I heard this tune years ago and try as I might, I could not work it out “by ear”. I didn’t even know the name of the tune (Tam Lin, aka Glasgow reel). One day I found it while surfing fiddle videos on YouTube (a great learning tool !). Then I found there were several styles and versions. . In this video I am playing the “simple” version, though at the end I attempt a little bit of the more complex version with fancier bowing. In addition, the tune incorporates tripletsand/or a triple bowing shuffle, but I haven’t got that far with it yet. Will keep working on it and hope to upload another version someday when I get it down (God willing & if I live that long). I wasn’t going to upload this practice video, but then decided to anyway as it shows my woodstove in use. Last night I uploaded a video of the outside view of my travel trailer/music studio with the woodstove going, and now you can see the inside. It’s a great place to practice on a cold day.
