Samantha’s first try at a fiddle competition…she had a good showing, audience loved her BUT we made a huge mistake on her third song which basically disqualified her from placing well! She received a zero from all 3 judges for her 3rd piece…for we (being complete newbies in the fiddle world) had her erroneously play 2 hoedowns and a waltz and she WAS REQUIRED to play 1 Hoedown, a waltz and a ‘choice’ that had to be non-hoedown…She still had a good little performance, met some really great musicians and made new friends in the fiddle world and everyone was very sympathetic toward our ‘newbie’ mistake…She was placed 9th due to receiving a zero on her last song. Played here: Blackberry Blossom; Lover’s Waltz by Ungar, and (in error-Jenny Lind Howedown(instead of Jenny Lind Polka)…Oklahoma State Fiddle Champion(multiple years, including this year and last year) Jake Duncan graciously accompanies her on guitar! Junior Junior Winner: Regina Scott, who had a phenomenal showing!
