The Online Academy of Irish Music presents this introductory lesson for the course ‘Fiddle Basics’. This is lesson one in a series of six completely free lessons designed to lead into the full ‘Fiddle Basics’ course. In order to avail of the free lessons, you must first become a member of OAIM. Membership is free. This course is for the absolute beginner fiddler. It will begin with how to hold the instrument, proper posture and good basic technique. There will be progression through fingering, bowing, tunes and ornamentation. There will also be emphasis on tempo, rhythm and tone. The course will enable the learning fiddle player to have knowledge of appropriate technique and tunes for the beginner and an understanding of how to approach rhythm and ornamentation.
