Majella’s new course entitled ‘Fleadh Tunes for the Fiddle’ is not only aimed at fleadh goer’s but at anyone wanting to learn tunes the really suit the Fiddle. The course will begin with suitable dance tunes and slow airs. In regard to the dance tunes, there will be a progression through ornamentation, variation, phrasing, tempo, rhythm and tone. When dealing with Slow Airs the main focus will be on the phrasing, momentum, appropriate ornamentation, the use of expression and most importantly the history and background to the airs and the accompanying songs, words and translations. This course is aimed at intermediate players.
